I just bought this off eBay:

Canon EOS Rebel XSi

I shopped around, best price I could find was $585 at Amazon, $599 at Wal-Mart, up to $700 at Sears.

I bought it off eBay so I could put it on my Paypal Buyer's Credit Account.

He has a great feedback (100%).

It does not say refurbished, it reads, new, never removed from box.

Just wondering if I took too big of a gamble by getting it off eBay, instead of for Amazon, or a retail store?

I have never bought anything off eBay like this (electronics, etc), I just use eBay to search for collectibles.

I would be sure and send in the registration card for the warranty as soon as its recieved in case you do need any repairs,if its not in the box you should be able to do it online.If by chance there have been any previous work done on it or registered to someone else the manufacturer will be able to tell you.

I don't know if I would consider it a big gamble, however I would have spent the extra $35 and got it from Amazon. There is always some grey area with any warranty when electronics are not purchased from an authorized dealer of the brand purchased. Amazon also has an awesome 30 day return policy in case you don't like it.

Yeah, I had problems like that with a TomTom I bought. Sigh
