The Goonies 40th Fathom Events

Fathom Events is doing a Goonies showing in the theater, yesterday and also today.

I saw this in the theater back in 1985 and have seen it many many times since but not in the theater. My family and I went yesterday and it was awesome! Lots of people joined us it seems, and it was popular enough that they added some other shows for it yesterday as well.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing, as most of us on the MM know very well. The Goonies is bathed in it as well, but even stripping away the nostalgia, it's just a darn good movie. Good young actors, good story, and just fun!

My kids have grown up enjoying this show as well, which makes me proud that they enjoy it too.

That's awesome. It's a staple at our house too, and our kids grew up on it. We got to see it at a local drive-in a few years ago during the height of COVID.

Saw it twice in the theater back in '85. This was back when multiple viewings at the theater was a rare thing for our family (until Batman '89).
Anyway, seemed like our local theater added another showing cause both showings for the day were packed so were orignally not going to go but, ultimately did end up going.
Also, my kid was asking me what was Martha Plimpton supposed to be doing when they introduced her character lol. I didnt have an answer lol.
