    RIP Linda Lavin

One of the best shows of the 70's into early 80's was "Alice." Running for 9 seasons, Linda Lavin played the titular character of "Alice." Based on the movie "Alice does not Live Here Anymore, " she was hilarious as a waitress at Mel's Diner. Granted, she was surrounded by a stellar cast including Vic Tayback, Beth Howland, and the great Polly Holliday who played "Flo." Sadly, Polly Holliday is the only original cast member still alive from the show. Linda stayed plenty busy throughout the years following the cancellation of "Alice." Linda was 87.

RIP Linda. "Alice" was a family favorite.

Lavin was a Broadway star as well, I fondly recall her as Daily Planet secretary Sydney, who has a crush on Clark Kent, in the OBC of the musical, It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman (1966).

        That's a good memory!!

I never knew that. And yes, she was ALL OVER Broadway!

But, yeah, ALICE was a hidden pleasure, it was so "pedestrian" So "Stoopid", that I enjoyed it. It was the 70's ya know.

Seeing all these idiots in one place. Alice/Linda seemed to be the "voice of reason" with everyone involved and Shows ya how damn good of an actress Linda was.

        RIP Ms. Lavin.

The musical is a favorite of mine, she's excellent in a supporting part that helps contrast Clark with Superman.

It's from the same creators of Bye Bye Birdie, Applause, and most notably, Annie.
