If I could find a souvenir just to prove the world was here.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

This has been a ****ty week for too many reasons, but the worst is the death of JOHN (James) SYKES (July 29, 1959-January 20th, 2025)

John was one of the best musicians on the planet and one of the best Guitar players of ALL TIME. This friday night's videos are dedicated to him and his amazing life and career.

His first major break was with NWOBHM Band; the TYGERS OF PAN TANG

(New Wave of British Heavy Metal)

You can hear the AGRESSION in his playing on this cover of the old hit.

His next gig was a dream come through. Playing in THIN LIZZY.

He struck up a friendship with Leader: Philip Lynott and soon they recorded this solo hit under his own name

                      "Please Don't Leave me"

THUNDER and LIGHTNING was the last Thin Lizzy Album to come out, which it did in 1983 and it was a KILLER

John brought the Aggression of the NWBHM with Lizzy's classic twin harmony sound and on this track John shines incredibly.

Lizzy broke upsadly and then John was approached by one....

David Coverdale and SLIDE IT IN came out in 1984

                          Whitesnake 1984

                          David Coverdale-vocals
                          John Sykes-Guitar
                          Neil Murray-Bass
                          COZY POWELL-Drums

                          What a great album

But as Phillip warned John, that "Coverdale is a Basterd" and that he would screw John over and he did

Whitesnake the 1987 Album sold more than 12 million copies world wide and made David and John Millionaires, but David fired the whole band and hired new musos to do the STILL OF THE NIGHT Video and the 87-88 tour.

So John formed a new band

                            BLUE MURDER

                            with Tony Franklin-bass
                            Carmine Appice-drums

Whatever John does seems to be brilliant and incredible. Here is

He continued on for the next two decades and released more lps but for the last ten years he was pretty much a hermit.

John died of Cancer, according to his family and he is survived by his wife and three sons.

RIP John. I had the privilege of meeting and hanging with John TWICE in my life once here in Chicago at the VIC theatre, when Blue Murder Mach II, played in 1994 and we smoked a joint together! Hahaha!

Then years later at the RAINBOW Bar & Grill in West Hollyweird, in the parking lot, when he came in to HANG OUT!

He was a great guy and incredibly nice and there have been so many tributes to him over the last few days.

I just can't believe he is gone. At 65 years Young!?!?!

This one is gonna take time to digest. RIP John, you will be missed more than you will know.
