If you look up the word "controversy" in the dictionary, you might find his name listed. Certainly, I am not here to argue his validation for or against his induction into the baseball hall of fame (although he does have a lifetime ban). However, one cannot deny he was one of the greatest hitters of all-time. A 17-time all-star player, he was simply uncanny at the plate. In addition, he was a 2-time world series winner. Moreover, he was voted an "all-century" player as well. Whether or not his betting on Cincinnati should have kept him from induction will forever be debated. However, his ability and skills will never be denied. Pete was 83.
