    Shazam! TV show 50 years!!!

50 years ago today, September 7th 1974 the Shazam Saturday morning television show debuted.

Michael Gray as Billy Batson, Les Tremayne as Mentor, Jackson Bostwick and John Davey as Captain Marvel.
Billy and Mentor traveled around in a 1973 Dodge Motorhome helping those in need.

I can’t believe it’s been 50 years, Michael Gray was 23 years old, not exactly a teenager.
Les Tremayne, 1923-2003, went only by Mentor, who was this mysterious Mentor and where did he come from? and how did Billy meet him? (maybe thru the elders).

Jackson Bostwick is now 80 years old and John Davey is 85 years old.

I enjoyed the show as a kid and still enjoy it today, I always wanted that red and yellow collar/cuffs shirt Billy wears but could never find one. I remember watching the show on Saturday mornings with a bowl of cereal and my mego Shazam, great memories.

Thank you for the remembrance! One of my favorites, along with Isis.

The series was my introduction to Capt. Marvel, it led to a life-long love of the character. So I'm grateful for all the enjoyment it fostered, and I still watch it, too.

Thinking about this, I must have watch the reruns of this. I was all of 3 when this came on tv so it must have been later on reruns that I watched the Shazam/Isis series with Mego Shazam & Isis along with reruns of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

I was reading the Shazam comic books and watching the show I would always get mad because I thought it would be like the Batman '66 show.

Only caught the '80 rerun as a little kid. The show is extremely quaint & formulaic by most standards but, have to admit that I still really like it.
