Do you use your face or your fingerprint? Biometrics make it fairly secure. Really hard to fake your face or your fingers. And you usually have one of them available. A few drawbacks
I use a pin. One of my old jobs was a booking officer at a small police dept. I took mugshots and fingerprints. Had to get licensed by the FBI and every six months recertification. It was interesting. Had to book my wife’s cousin once. Fun times.
Anyway what you might have realized is that when you are arrested for any reason at all, the police may and probably will take your picture and your prints for identification purposes. What state courts have so far ruled is that using your face or fingerprints to unlock your phone is not substantially different. And once the phone is unlocked, anything found is prosecutable under plain sight doctrines.
I hear you. Don’t do illegal things and you have no problems. Except the term illegal things has gotten kind of broad. Giving a grandchild a ride to the airport. Can be illegal. If it turns out that they went somewhere to get an abortion you can be prosecuted for manslaughter. Even if you didn’t know. I’m not protesting anything I just want yall to be aware. It’s a privacy issue and there are things to consider
