Cloud cover ruined any views in my part of Western New York, but it was still cool nonetheless. Temps noticeably dropped and when we hit totality, the birds went crazy, flying all around and very loud. We got just under four minutes of total darkness.

Had a great view from our side porch, and the cloud cover opened up about an hour before the eclipse started so was able to see everything. Rocked the eclipse glasses watching as it approached totality, then took in the totality with the naked eye. Put the glasses back on when the totality passed, but only stayed out for a couple more minutes. It got considerable darker and the temp dropped like 5-10 degrees during the totality, but never quite got full dark, more like deep twilight dark.

Well 2day sucked. Between the clouds, fog, and rain; I couldn't see the sun. Then I had to go and spend the afternoon getting two new tires on my car. The good thing about today was we finally saw Godzilla x Kong.

Well, I started chickening out because of traffic projections in Ohio, and my house was already going to be in the path of totality. But then the wife got annoyed, "I didn't take a day off so we could sit home" and I went with plan B. The small towns I was looking at were expected to be overrun so we went up the interstate to a pair of smaller cities. We hit a favorite grocery store and had the whole place to ourselves; the locals were all at home sitting outside. So we had 3+ min of totality with no crowd, minimal clouds, and a normal drive there and back. Huge win. Totality makes all the difference - if you ever have the chance to experience it, I recommend trying. I see a 2026 eclipse that will hit Iceland and Spain...
