What a superb actor! From "Roots" to his Academy Award for "Officer and a Gentleman" what a great and very underrated actor he was! Even in a rotten film like "Jaws" 3, he still shined! I was always a big fan of his. Louis was 87.

I'll always remember him best for his roles in The Deep, Jaws 3D, Iron Eagle, The Punisher and Enemy Mine.
Great performances.

The LONG ROAD HOME; was an episode of Little House on the Prairie that Mr. Gossett starred in. He, Charles and Mr. Edwards were workers dealing in the transport of Nitroglycerin! And it was a dozy of an episode. Check it out from series 2 (1976).
There was also a film called: THE PRINCIPAL, which he starred in with Jim Belushi. it was an 80's film and it is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Yes, Mr. Gossett was a maverick! He will be missed. RIPComment
