    Letters to Santa Claus

I just read this news article about kids writing to Santa Claus c/o North Pole AK., and how the Post Office wanted to discontinue the service- not because of costs, but because it's too hard to weed out sex offenders from the program and there were security concerns. Public outcry seems to have reversed the decision and the service will continue.

I'm disgusted by this anymore. And shocked that the first reaction is to stop the program, despite all the joy it brings to little kids, instead of acting to get these creeps off the street. Maybe if they enacted tougher penalties for this scum, there'd be less of them out there. But the governments first reaction is to protect our kids by elimianting Santa Claus. Ridiculous.

I never wrote a letter to Santa because I never believed in him -- not even as a little tike.

I still remember being in school around Christmas time back in the lower grades and all my buddies were like --- Santa this and Santa that --- and I was thinking - what are you all stupid ?

I believed in Santa as a kid, but never wrote a letter either

I believed in Santa until I was 10. There was no big speech about it, I just grew out of it. But my mom wanted me to have a childhood for as long as possible, b/c all too soon it's gone. But I did write a letter once and mailed it myself. Then my mom told me to give the list to her, and she'd mail it to Santa. Smart Mom.

I believed in Santa Claus for five minutes until the day I saw my parents shopping for our Christmas presents (My Aunt was taking care of me and she happened to run into my parents shopping)
My dad was on line holding Rock em Sock em Robots and that ended all belief........after that I knew who to hit up for toys

My sister killed it for me when I was about 3 so i never wrote one myself, but I liked the idea of kids being able to believe in that

sucks that the reason it won't be around is because of sick perverts

I grew up with out Santa and still had a great time during the holidays. I've always sort of suspected that keeping up the ruse was more fun for the adults than the kids because kids have fun either way.

I think it is great fun for the kids but when they get to the age where they question it we don't lie to them, we just tell them to play along for the younger ones.
