How did Taylor Swift get a record contract??

I watched the CMA's the other night...thought that Shania was going to make her first post Mutt performance...and I have to say that Taylor Swift is one of the worst live singers I've heard in a while. She opened the show and it was just AWFUL. The worst is she won all 4 awards she was nominated for. She must be a "Studio" singer because in my opinion Brittany Spears sings better than Taylor...and that aint saying much. It must have been the "cuteness"...because she can't sing...at least, she can't sing live.

On a positive note, it was cool to see that Darius Rucker (Hootie and The Blowfish lead singer) won for best new artist. Don't think I've ever seen a Rock artist cross over with the success he's had into the Country Charts and win awards for it. Country has crossed over into pop on many occasions...but I've never seen it reversed. Guess that Burger King Commercial he did was for the best.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

Another cute girl with average talent with a fancy recording studio to help her sell records. Seen it a million times.

I work in a recording studio. I seriously mean it when I say that I can write a song and take just an ordinary girl off the street and bring her in and record her singing the lyrics (out of key and no experience). When she leaves the studio, we can take the pro-tools program and make her sound like a million bucks. With this program, we can literally zoom in on each note she sings and "clean it up". It is an unbelievable program. (and we have had to use it with professionals also. Otherwise, we'd be there for days trying to get them to sing it right. )

If little old me can do it, imagine the little cuties that are out there that are becoming over night sensations because of stuff like this.

Not sure if it's true, but I heard Paula Abdul was one of the first people to have their songs "built" like this in the studio dating back to her Straight Up days.

Yeah, I watched SNL last week and thought she sounded fine too (she did a decent job in the sketches as well).

I am pretty sure Paula Abdul was one of the people to have studio magic make them sound good. Along with Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Ashley Simpson...etc.
It seems like a common thing. Someday I will be exposed like Milly Vanilly. Right now nobody seems to think it is an issue.

I bounce between working in the studio, working as a computer technician and playing in a band. I make a good living at doing it but it requires a good deal of juggling the arts to earn the capital to keep your head a float.

Sometimes people just have no idea how to set up Stage Equipment correctly. With a Mulit-Artist Venue,.. I could only Imagine the pure Chaos Involved with putting together the show. I wouldn't Blame it all on Her,..

When you really think about it, I think even Madonna had a lot of stuff done to her voice at least back in the old days.

When you compare her voice today to her voice on older songs such as Like a Virgin, the difference is striking.
