Who are you picking? I'm going to take the underdog by late KO. I really like both fighters a lot and think cotto has enough to pull it out. It's hard to go against Manny though, That guy is a machine!

I have been totally cold on my predictions the last several fights. That being said, I think the Margarito fight took something out of Cotto. I give the edge to Manny for having Freddie in his corner too. Pacman by late TKO. -
Had it not been for his fight against Antonio Margarito (and the whole plaster of Paris controversy)...I would immediately pick Cotto without hesitation.
A great bigger man will always beat a great little man.
Cotto is a real welterweight who seems to be not past his prime.
But that horrible beating he took from Margarito (cheating or not)...took a lot outta him...most boxers are just never the same after such destruction.
Pacman is on a friggin' roll...like you said...the guy is a machine...super fast...and punching power.
The question is...can Pacman hurt the naturally bigger man in Cotto?
Will his punches be as effective?
Ok...Pacman hurt and KO Ricky Hatton...but Hatton is not in Cotto's league....plus Cotto is natural welterweight...Hatton is a junior welterweight.
Pacman stopped Oscar de la Hoya...but Oscar...as we all know...was well past his prime.
This one is a hard one to call.
Too many intangibles.
But I have to man up...I'm shocking everyone here...but I think this is a distance fight.
I think...that eventually Cotto's strength is going to give the faster Pacman trouble.
If Pacman can't hurt Cotto...it's going to be a long night for the Filipino fighter.
I can see Cotto eventually wearing him down.
But he wiil not KO him...Pacman is too good.
So my final prediction...
Cotto by decision.Last edited by Hector; Nov 13, '09, 8:30 PM.sigpicComment

Too bad you're not up here John, I have free tix to see the fight on CC at the MGM casino. Caught Larry the Cable Guy last night at Mohegan so I decided to pass on going up there back to back. Should be a great fight, hope it holds up to the hype. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

Oh heck yeah...I live for these super fights.
I really like both fighters...so I won't be really be cheering for one over the other...I just want a good competitive fight.
Having said that...I think Cotto's size difference is going to be a factor down the stretch.
Cotto by decision.
P.S. Next week there's going to be another big fight here in my hometown of Oakland (Oracle arena)...it's a super six fight and for the WBA Super Middleweight championship...Denmark's Mikkel Kessler vs Oakland's own, Andre Ward.
I was going to get tickets...but the cheapest nosebleed seats are like $200 each...and all my friends can't go...so I'll be at home watching it on Showtime.
In that one...I will be rooting for Andre Ward...go Oakland!!!

Hector I agree with your opinion and fight pick. When i break it down I too feel Cotto is to big, too strong at this weight for Pacman! Cotto will likley lose some early rounds due to pacquiao hand speed, but once Cotto adapts he should slowly break down Pacquiao in one hell of a war. Cotto by a close decision.
Ward should decision Kessler, I havent followed the careers though of those two.

He's a puncher...and undefeated.
Andre Ward is also undefeated...but has not been tested.
But I feel Ward's speed...coupled with him fighting in his own hometown...will give him that slight edge to get a close decision.
But if there's a knock out...that would be in Kessler's favor.sigpicComment
