    candy robot

    So;

As mentioned in another post; here's a rough sketch of the candy case robot I'm looking for:

They're like the garbage cans, coffins and such that had them chalky candies in them. I've been looking for one for a long time.... even some info'd be nice. They stand a little shorter than a Star Wars figure. I suspect they were made by Fleer or Topps; but that's just a guess.

Thanks Don for the pic. I was thinking that I'd remember this thing once I saw it... i don't remember it. Looks cool though. I loved the coffin and garbage cans. Seams like maybe there was a coffin that had bats and stuff and another one that had skeleton parts you could put together.

        >Is this what you're looking for?

Those are neat; but not them. The ones I'm looking for are WAY simpler than that.

        >Looking at these gave me some serious flashbacks of being a lovesick teenager.

I don't remember the alligator head; but for some reason those turn up A LOT when searching for the robots. THey must have been pretty popular.

The hook on the back was for another robot candy container to grab on to.

^^^ Yeah, that's what he's saying. Its a 70's candy container like the garbage cans or the coffins. They had that chalky Smarties sort of candy in them in shapes. Garbage in the garbage can and skeleton parts in the coffin.

                >Its a 70's candy container like the garbage cans or the coffins.

Yup! And the arm joints (and hinge on the back) were just pinched in plastic that almost always broke. (We'd reattach them with Scotch tape.) They were REALLY cheap. They would have been available around '79-'80 or so. I had a huge collection of them. We'd use them as bad guys to fight them little green army guys.

                >Garbage in the garbage can and skeleton parts in the coffin.

And sci-fi shapes in the robots. I remember a flying saucer and a ray gun. The one hand could hold the ray gun. They had an assortment of colours too. The black and neon green ones were the rarest.

                >I'm usually pretty good at finding obscure collectibles.

Really.... 'cos there's a couple of things I've been looking a LONG time for:

-A little Kinder Surprise robot guy. Available around 1979. Even the Kinder collectors haven't seen this one; although I DID find a pic on a French Kinder site. They're called "Android soldiers."

They were the first Kinder toy I ever got. (The one I had used to help fight the candy container robots.)

-I've been looking for a number of colouring/activity books from the early '70s. Oddly enough; I've found very few websites dedicated to old colouring books and the like. I'm looking for:
                any "Funwerks" activity books
a colouring book about a Godzilla clone and a cyclops going to a party
any of the "Monser Colouring Books" series I don't have. I have Sea and Swamp; and know of Space and Flying.

                  >I collect Kinder prizes as well but not those ones in particular. They're pretty cool though...

I think the coolest Kinder figures I've seen were a set of German sci-fi looking dudes. "Tech-" something. Weird little robot guys. Too bad they don't bring stuff like that over here.

                  >Coloring books are not my specialty but I'll see what I can do for you...

I'm surprised that they don't seem to be ANYBODY'S specialty.... I've seen websites dedicated to all sorts of stuff, but not colouring books. Weird.
