    Wacom tablets...specifically the Intuos 4

Any of you guys have any?

    Bamboo, Intous, Cintiq?

    WTC Wacom Technology Home Page

My school has three Cintiq 21U tablets...they are awesome...but they are also pricey...$2000 each.

    The Cintiq 12WX is smaller...same features...but it's also it's also kinda pricey at $1000.

The Bamboo tablets are the cheapest...but they might be too limited...I don't know.

Looks like the Intuos 4 tablets are the best choice for me (price and functionality wise)...I'm looking at the Intous 4 medium...it's $350...perhaps even the Intuos 4 Large...that one is $470. Then there's the Intuos XL at $790...it's still cheaper than the small Cintiq tablet model.

The Cintiq's are tablets where you can draw directly right on the screen...the Intuos 4 and Bamboos don't.

Anyway...I'm planning on getting either the Intuos 4 medium or large...but I want some feedback from people who might own any of these...or similar drawing tablets.

I need some guidance on the matter on the Intuos 4 tablet.

    Thanks!

Never used the above, but I did have a Graphire 3 8x10 that I did a bunch of stuff with somewheres around 1999-2002. The Graphire series had less sensitivity than the Intuos of the time, but was enough for my skills. I was doing a bunch of cel animation and flash, then I moved and I have never set my drawing workstation back up. I would definitely recommend a bigger tablet than the 4x6. You are very limited with actual penstrokes at that size. If you do LOTS of vector type stuff, it would probably work. But I bet you would still want the room to move around in, especially with todays large monitors.

I really liked using the tablet tho. I was introduced to these with the Intuos 2 series, I think. I don't have the specs in front of me, but I think the Graphires and the I2s were somewhat similar. I would suspect they are even more sensitive now.

It was much better on my hands than mousing. You are making me want to get a bigger desk so I can get that all set up again.
