Cheap turkey and trimmings at Walmart

    Just came back from Walmart

They're selling full turkey's for 40 cents a pound ... and all the trimmings are on sale too.

Their add say's they want everyone to feed a family of 8 a full Thanksgiving dinner for under 20 dollars.

Good stuff in these nasty times.

Last year I ordered a Turducken from a Louisiana-based online store...it was awesome...but it came with a high price tag...nearly $100 with shipping...

Stuffed Turducken $85 Delivered | Buy Now! | Fresh from CajunGrocer

It was delicious...but like you said...money is kinda tight right now...so I appreciate the heads up...I'm going to get one locally on the cheap.

So they stuff all three birds together into one? Sounds ok I guess, but I prefer my poultry seperate. Honestly.....I prefer beef!

For me the chicken and duck ruins it.

Chicken is ok but it's kind of bland ... mix that with white meat turkey and you have double bland.

Duck, I just don't like ... It's too fatty and greasy for me... It's like the prime rib of birds

The only time i'll ever eat duck is from the chinese restaurant because they totally burn it up

Guys...turducken is awesome...trust me on this one.

All the birds at the same time compliment each other very well.

Can't hate it unless you try it...that's always been my motto.

Well...I'm a beef man myself...a grilled medium rare ribeye is my favorite food in the whole world.

But that's the point of Thanksgiving...it's really the only time of the year I cook an entire turkey...I love the tradition...and I also happen to like turkey too.

As much as I love beef...I will not have it on Thanksgiving...like I said...I'm a traditionalist.

I dont doubt it tastes ok...What puts me off is the thought of how they make it. Do they go by size, stuffing a chicken into a duck, and then shoving that up into the turkey....or do they load all three into a cannon, point it at a steel plate or a brick wall, and then fire! Voila, three birds in one messy package!

We always have ham on Thanksgiving. Christmas is roast beef. My Dad could never stand turkey. Come to think of it, I'm the only one in the family who does like it.

Thanks for the heads up on the Wal-Mart stuff. There may a bit of philanthropy but Wal-Mart is probably more interested in getting foot traffic in their stores. I wouldn't be surprised if they are selling it at a loss because they know most people will buy other stuff while they're there and make up for it on other products.

I heard they are starting a pricing war on books starting this month. Apparently, a lot of the highly anticipated books to be released over the next couple of months can be bought for $9 in hard cover (that usually retails for $29.95) and I heard is $11 or so cost. I think Amazon and Target are matching but the traditional book stores like B&N and Borders are going crazy because this type of pricing is going to break their backs.

If anyone remembers, Wal-Mart did this to Toys R Us a few years back.
