    new tech

    So;

    I don't often go to Wal-Mart; but I needed blank video tapes, and nobody else carries them around here. Apparently my local Wal-Mart doesn't either. (But they DID have a shelf full of VCR cleaning kits....) What they DID have was.... a DVD/VCR player/recorder combo that I could afford!

    So now I can convert all 1600 of my video tapes! Once I figger out how to work the thing. It's more complicated than I thought it'd be.

    LOL! good luck with that,it takes the exact same time of the movie to convert it,so you have to watch them or leave it recording when you leave to work or something,my brother tried it and realized it wasn't worth it

      Its a definite chore. I converted hours of home movies to DVD. took almost a week to finish.

        >it takes the exact same time of the movie to convert it,

        Actually, it looks like it takes LONGER; since I gotta section it off and stuff. The recorder reminds me of the old industrial VHS-super editing deck I used to use... except I KNEW how toe editing deck worked.

        >so you have to watch them or leave it recording when you leave to work or something

        I don't mind watching them. Gives me a chance to see some stuff I haven't for a while. First up: a SWAT-Kats marathon.

          I have one of those, too. Very handy!

          Of course, you can't copy the copy-protected stuff, but it's nice to be able to go back and forth between formats.
