    Fear the monkeybat!

    My misspent youth.

    So;

    I went looking for pics of some old robot candy holders I remember from when I was a kid. They had candy in 'em like them old garbage cans and coffins; but with little grabber claws. They were blocky too... and I'm still looking for pics.

    But anyhoo; I DID find THIS:

    I have very vivid memories of some of these. Used to get 'em at the store across the street; way back when I was 3 or so. Some of 'em are pretty gruesome, especially for a kids product. All of 'em are weird.

    Nobody else I know remembers these. So does anyone here remember them?

    The monkey-headed bat thing was always my fave.

    I've never seen those. Had I, I'm sure I'd remember them.

    I'd forgotten about the garbage can/coffin candy. Not sure if I remember the robot. Was the robot shaped similar to the garbage can?

    And by the way I do fear the bat-monkey

          >Not sure if I remember the robot. Was the robot shaped similar to the garbage can?

          Nah; they were a bit bigger, and squared off. They had two claws, one that could hold a candy (one was shaped like a gun) one that could clamp onto a little hook on the back; allowing you to create the extraterrestrial conga line of doom. I'd love to get one, or at least some good pics, 'cos I feel the need for an 8" scale army of them. (And I'm a stickler for accuracy.)

          >And by the way I do fear the bat-monkey

          When I was a little kid... three or so.... I built the old Aurora mummy. Turned out so good I was afraid to have it in my room, until my Grandpa explained that since I built him he was MY monster and would actually protect me from bad monsters. (I had seen the movie, but not read the Frankenstein BOOK yet; so this all made sense.) This principle soon extended to my entire monster collection, which grew almost exponentially every week. The reason I remember the bat-monkey so well is 'cos I carried that sticker around for a LONG time as a talisman against bad monsters.

            If you ever find one post a pic. It's as if behind some haze I remember the robot, but yet I do not remember the robot.

            I wish they still made the coffin and garbage cans. those were great.
