GIJoe AT re-issues, anyone else getting from Ebay?

I just did 2 Buy It Now deals for the Sea and Black Adventurers. Actually, pretty reasonable, considering the scalping going on. If I didn't already have the Meijer figure, (in the wrong uniform), I'd get the Air Adventurer as well.

I've been to four different Wal-Marts in the Chicagoland/NW Indiana region in the past few weeks, and I haven't seen a trace of them anywhere. My typical bad luck with these retro Joes, I didn't have much luck with the Hot Topic one either. I may resort to Ebay soon if I don't get a lead on these things at a store somewhere.

I got a set at one Wal-Mart in the area. There's nothin' but Wal-Mart around here, and only one of them had them. One. They're not really out there. And they're not really $10... closer to $20. So, if you're getting them for around $100 for the 5, you're doing well.

I also had to hunt for the new Bible figures at Wal-Mart. Found those at only one as well, this one way on the other side of OKC.

When you say not really $10, I presume you mean on Ebay because they are definitely $9.97 at my Wal-Mart at least. They show up in fits and spurts so I think there will be more showing up, they will just be arriving a little at a time.

I read an article in Master Collector where a Joe collector critiqued the WalMart GI Joes. He tried to be as objective as possible and look at it from the eyes of a die hard fan and as die hard vintage collector

His main overall problem was the thin hair flocking compared to the older Joes and that the Kung Fu grip Joes came with hunting rifles, not a pistol.

Here is a brief synopsis on each figure

Land Adventurer-Same as Meijer figure and Hot Topic figure. Not much to add other than it was a good figure to pick up if you hadn't already from the other two stores.

Sea Adventurer-Talked about the messed up Air Adventurer from Urban Outfitters dressed in a Sea Adventurer outfit. Purist part of him didn't like the hair coloring and no pocket on the shirt. Also mentioned the problem with the missing AT stickers on some of the figures which someone else mentioned

Man of Action-Not much to say other than thin hair, slightly darker uniform and basically his 2nd favorite fig. of the bunch

Air Adventurer-Right uniform this time. Liked the tall black boots but would have preferred the shorter boots that came with the original. Same sticker issue. Although not mentioned, I personally thought the hair was too bright.

Black Adventurer-He loved this one the most. Only minor issues with uniform being slightly lighter and mentioned that the box says "with life-like hair and beard" but obviously no beard on this one. Overall, this was a knock out on his list.

Bottom line was even as an old school collector, he loved looking at them side by side and for $9.97, he said it was a no brainer buy.

              Dude,

I feel kinda ripped off, cause mine we $17+ each! You'd think OKlahoma, with its low wages and generally overall cheap cost of living, would rate a price break.

At Walmart? You have to be kidding me? And here I was getting a little bummed that people were picking them up for $7.97 in the bargain bin.

                  $17???

How can they get away with charging that when everywhere in the US they are $10?

I wonder if someone in your Wal-Mart messed with the pricing on your figures. The Joes at my Wal-Mart are $9.96, but right beside them on the shelf is a stack of new Adventure Team playsets priced at $17.76. These new sets are actually Sigma Six Joes with Kung Fu Grip and come with either a tiger or an alligator. I'd almost bet that you were charged for the AT set instead of the correct price.

                      JamesD,

I was able to find two complete sets (only one was for me) at the Wal-Mart on NW Highway near Council. They were $9.96. I found the second set on Thursday (Aug. 30th) and they still had a few of the Land Adventurer and Sea Adventurer. I didn't find any more than one of the others.

Sorry I didn't think to PM you to find out if you were looking for the AT Joes.

Hey, everyone, guess what? I was feeling so miffed about the GI Joe price that I went and pulled out the receipt--with plans to take it to the store, along with a printout of this discussion, and ask for a price adjustment.

Instead, I found that, although the price was marked $17, the AT scanned in at $9.96 each. This was one of those cases in which the barcode worked in my favor! (As opposed to those stories in which people are charged something higher, which has actually happened to me at Wal-Mart).

So, good news all around. But I must say, I was willing to pay $17 (even thought I'd paid that much), so if you're paying around that for the Joes on on ebay, I guess that's what the market is bearing on this one.

To tell the truth, I'm not into Joe that much. I used to be between ages 5-10, but when Mego Aquaman first came into my life, they sort of got pushed to the back of the toy box. The repro-Joes are nice, though, and bring back some memories.

Seeing them there in Wal-Mart, I just couldn't pass on them!

Well, I just got my Sea Adventurer. I'm pretty happy w/ him. His hair is OK, though not as dark red as the original. I still don't like the way the eyes are though, w/ both the Meijers and the Walmart issues. The eyes seem little or maybe the paint job is just wrong. His AT insignia was there, too. And to avoid confusion, I changed the clothes on my Meijer Air Adventurer, (who as you know, was dressed in the Sea Adventurer's outfit). He's now wearing a green "The Corps" Haz-Mat jumpsuit, (which kinda looks like a flight suit), and a Hall Of Fame GIJoe tan field vest and high black boots. He looks pretty cool, actually. I can't wait til I get my Black Adventurer.
