    Stampede Wrestling

Anybody else remember the late great Stampede Wrestling?

It was broadcast nationwide in Canada, and syndicated around the world. Had a great theme song (wish I could find it on you tube??) and made Ed Whalen a worldwide star for a time back in the seventies.

Even if you dont know Stampede itself, you folks will no doubt recognize its stars. A lot of these guys became superstars when they ended up in the WWf/WWE, after McMahon bought out the Stampedes owner Stu Hart, and shut down this Canadian classic!!

Chris Benoit, Dynamite Kid, the British Bulldogs, Bret Hart, Owen Hart...just to name a few.

Unlike the crapola on tv now, these guys really put on a show, and kept the bla-bla hooey too a minimum.

I met a lot of these guys when they came to our high school to do a show. Decent enough guys, who showed us how they did some of the stuff they did while we set up the ring and seats.
One guy, a villian character named Bad News Allen even came to our grad fund raising car wash. He was kind of a "Huggy Bear" persona at the time, and showed up in this big metallic blue Cadillac with gold plated trim. More importantly, he had half a dozen SMOKING HOT women riding with him!!
We were charging something like 5 or 10 bucks to wash a car, he gave us a 100 bucks and drove off laughing like a hyena. Never ...EVER...forget that.

I Remeber those were the golden days of wrestling!!!
I grew up on the west coast and in Radium hotsprings just a stones throw away from stampede wrestling.

Bad News Allen was the greatest villian in history!!!
A lot of great wrestlers came out of there.
