My vote goes for Valley Girl.
Only because I grew up in that area and even went to Hollywood High. Visited family in the valley and got a first hand look at the "Valley" culture. Great soundtrack.Leave a comment:

Bad Santa. I quoted it at work today, and got the old, "I don't like Billy Bob, so I didn't see it." from one person. For me, Bad Santa ranks up there with Christmas Story & Black Adder's Christmas show as must-see holiday fare.Leave a comment:

I can't discount Tombstone though...
However...I agree...I love Open Range (very realistic)...as well as all the other Costner Westerns...Silverado (although he didn't direct that one), Dances With Wolves, Wyatt Earp...and of course...Open Range.
I hated the Postman though...

The Iron Giant: A true gem that did not get the audience it deserved. Mostly because Disney didn't produce it. When the Robot calls himself "Superman" at the end I tear up every time.
Frequency: I really like Dennis Quaid, but he's made some crappy flicks. This isn't one of them. Jim Caviezel helps ground this fantasy. It's got a real wish-fulfillment angle going for anyone who lost a parent too.
Open Range: Costner gets a lot of crap, but the guy knows how to make a great western. Throw in Robert Duvall and Annette Benning, and you have the best Western of the last 30 years that doesn't star Eastwood.
Wow, I haven't seen that in ages. I watched it in my post-Batman hysteria phase where I wanted to see every flick Michael Keaton was in. Winkler is very good in this, and a very under-rated actor. One of Ron Howard's first films, I believe.Night Shift (1982)

One of my favorites with Henry Winkler and Micheal Keaton. Movie is still great to this day!
I also love the Rocketeer. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that movie. Unlike the Phantom, which I enjoy, it doesn't have an over-acting Treat Williams to wreck it. Rocketeer just got the shaft that a lot of good movies do. The marketing was even good. It just didn't click with general audiences at the time.
