They come in small buns...

... or wrapped in a roll

God, I'm hungry now

Yeah Muele...many countries have similar stuff.
Middle Eastern immigrants (mostly Lebanese) brought that dish to Mexico in the 19th century (not the corn tortilla of course...but el pastor meat/preperation).
About a million people of Middle Eastern decent live in Mexico today.
I myself have Lebanese blood...my paternal grandfather was half Lebanese.

Tacos al pastor are also known as tacos árabes (Arab tacos)...

Mexican cuisine has influenced many countries...but it also has been influenced by others as well.
The French also left many things when they invaded Mexico as well...pastries like pan dulce...it's French influenced...as well as the Mariachi...Mexico's most cherished type of instrumental bands...it comes from the French word...mariage (as you know).
Mexico has a proud indigenous culture...but it also has a lot of European, Middle Eastern...and even Asian influences.
Mexico is also a land of immigrants as well.Last edited by Hector; Oct 31, '09, 4:04 PM.sigpicComment
