    Whats your cat eat?

Just an odd question here, whats your cat eat.We got a new kitty a couple weeks ago,a calico to replace the one we lost last year, and shes a carnivore. She likes her kitten chow but goes nuts for whatever we eat.I swear she sits and stares at the stove as supper cooks and meows and meows. She begs and cicles the table while we eat,and goes nuts to clean up what ever we treat her with. Its so comical to watch her, whats your cat eat?

We just got a kitten last week and I did alot of research on best food for kittens/cats. Important: Kittens and Cats need moist food primarily and the dry food as a kibble. Nutro Natural Choice Kitten or Nutro Max for Kitten (wet food, they also make dry). The important thing you want in a kitten food is high protein, then high fat. There is also alot of moisture in the kitten food as kittens dont drink much water. Stay away from the Iams/Eukanuba brands as they have alot of crued products. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. We've been adding some dry food with her moist in the morning so she gets what she needs. We had her checked for worms when she got her shots at the vet, little girl just likes to eat.

I wouldn't introduce human food really until at least four months old. SOme stuff may not digest properly at such a young age.

All three of our cats eat the hard food, canned, pouches and some meat scraps. Our youngest actually loves pepperoni.

Cats are true carnivores and don't actually digest any grains or fillers that are in their food. So anything you feed them has to have some form of meat as the main ingredient. Chicken, turkey, beef, etc. and not the meals that are rendered from them. If you are feeding her something that is primarily grain, she will continue to bug the crap out of you when you have steak or fried chicken.

You also want to make sure that whatever you feed her has a healthy dose of taurine. Cats need it to stay healthy. Some of the better foods that aren't just ridiculously expensive are "Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul"(yeah, I know. The name embarasses the hell out of me). "Taste of the Wild" is pretty decent, too. If you are serious about your pet's nutrition(and can afford it), check out a brand called Orijen. Seventy five percent animal ingredients, twenty five percent fruits vegetables, and 0% grain. Unfortunately it's expensive and your cat won't want to eat any other foods once she tries it. Mine cat actually picked it out of the Purina food I used to feed him, leaving the Purina behind.

Stay away from Eukaneuba, Science Diet, most Purina Brands, and pretty much anything that you buy at Wal Mart. Most of them contain Propylene glycol which will cause your cat's kidneys to shut down over the years.

And HECTOR! If you have problems with them getting in your yard, spray the perimeter with something orange or lemon scented. Cats hate citrus smells.

                    Any more questions?
Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.

                              I have tried...but no success.

I don't want to hurt the poor cats...I just don't want them in my backyard.

However...I'm seriously looking for a dog.

I had a great little Miniature Pinscher for 16 years...but he's in doggie heaven now...he was good enough to shoo them off...lol.
