    Found A New Little Hobby......

....that some of you might appreciate.

I'm a fan of the old radio serials like Flash Gordon, The Shadow, etc. There are a ton of them out there on the Web and through iTunes that are available as a free download.

Well, I felt the experience lacking by listening through earbuds on a little MP3 player, so I looked around and found this old school looking radio that I can plug my MP3 player into.

    Crosley Radio

Picked it up at Target for nowhere near the suggested retail price and listened to a few old time broadcasts on it last night. I got a kick out of it.

I think I am going to play the 1938 Mercury Theatre broadcast of War of the Worlds over it on Halloween.

We used to have a member that was part of a company that made radio shows, I got a few from him and I got a real kick out of listening to them

Cool..I figured there were a few people that dug the old time broadcasts. Gotta say, the box makes a big difference in the experience.

Wish I could have found a cathedral one, but none of them had an aux input for MP3.

Hey, Jessica...my Bing Crosby and Capitol Jazz records are real fun to play on it, too. If I remember right, you're a fan of music from the 40s.

What makes you think I haven't....

Actually, the guy that wrote A Christmas Story, Jean Shepherd, had his own radio show for years. I have a bunch of recorded shows of his that I plan on listening to on this thing.

Oh wow! I love old radio shows! My mom got me hooked on them. I have about 40 or 50 tapes of mysteries (like The Shadow) and some Sci-Fi (like X-Minus -One). I do have War Of The Worlds too. I know that someone (maybe Crosley) used to make the cathedral radios w/ tape players in them. I just have to find them.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

I think Jean Shepherd's TV stuff for PBS was hilarious. I wish those would come out on DVD.

Nice radio. Crosley makes some good stuff. I have the turntable that will dub directly to CD. I love it.
                              It's all good!
