    Swine Flu-H1N1 vaccine anyone?

I'm so back and fourth on to vaccinate or not for this Swine Flu. There is a 15 year old girl who lives 3 blocks from me in bad, bad shape from the Swine Flu. She was a healthy strong 15 year old,now in Intensive care! Last I heard, she likely wont make it.

Then i hear others says the vaccine might be worse then the Swine Flu itself. So what did you guys with small children do? What will you do?

Vaccinate or not? Why or why not?

Those who were vaccinated, did you or your loved ones have side effects?

Who here had the swine flu? What happened?

So many questions! Hope someone could help!

    Thanks!!!!

This is only my experience...can't say it would hold true to everyone so please, take it with a grain of salt.

I took the flu vaccine for years because I had to and always felt like crap afterward. Never got the flu.

I have refused it for thirteen years now and never got the flu.

I took the shot...felt like crap from the shot, didn't get the flu. Refused the shot...felt fine, didn't get the flu. Purely my experience.

From what I have heard from reliable sources, H1N1 is actually less a pain in the arse than seasonal flu....provided there are no pre-existing conditions that would make it fatal.

Just warsh yer hands like you should. Avoid snotty people.

Not I, I already got it. My pregnant wife got it too and I was really worried we'd lose the baby because it hit my wife so much harder than me. If I knew how hard the swine flew would have hit me before hand I might have gotten the vaccine. Now I don't have to get it, but dam if you get it expect to be off work in bed for at least 2 weeks. I'm still having some problems but at least i'm not coughing anymore.

That was the problem with this strain. It hit those at risk and those around them BEFORE the vaccine was developed.

It is rampant here and the vaccine just became available enough to be in short-supply.

Get the seasonal one, though (if you haven't already)...since your wife is at risk.

          Hmmmm....

I don't think I'd be afraid of the vaccine, unless your doctor says something. Dunno if I'd put a lot of faith in it though; lots of variables that conspire to determine wether or not you're gonna get sick.

I work w/ kids, and now I'm working w/ the pre-schoolers. That said, I've never had a flu-shot in my life. I take lotsa vitamin C, carry hand santizer in my pocket, b/c I'm constantly wiping noses. I make the kids wash their hands after cleaning their noses or putting their hands in their mouths. I'm always washing my hands and using that sanitizer. We bleach down surfaces, clean toys and their cots.

That's pretty much my take on the swine flu.

My son had the swine flu and caught it early. He was on the Tami Flu medicine. Doctors told us that if you catch it within the first days the Tami Flu helps. We were worried but after he was taking the tami flu it was like almost an over night change to his condition. My son had really bad asthma and we were worried that it would affect his getting better from the swine flu but he came out of it just fine. Within a week he was back to normal. Hope that helps.

My Wife is a Nurse too and she agrees, because it's untested. That means if you get the vaccine you are paying to be a guinea pig.

exactly , they have no clue what side affects it could have in the long run...it could end up being more harmful then good

Wow! I didnt expect so many replies. Thank You all! I'm leaning no vaccine, yet I do worry about my son who is asthmatic and even his common colds are tough for him to kick at times.

Tomorrow i'll see how that 15 year old who has swine is doing.

Thanks again! Keep the info and opinions coming!

I feel you reservation and curiosity as well.My son is also asthmatic and we usually get the regular flu shots annually. This year we are scheduled to get both shots on the 30th of the month.

                            H1N1 is all media hype.

My daughter had type B flu 3 weeks ago. We said to the Dr, thank God it was not Swine flu.
Our DR told us Swine flu was very mild, and the type B flu was worse.

I'm not getting the H1N1 shot. It was rushed to production way to fast. Plus you have better odds dying in a traffic wreck than dying from the flu
