I don't know anything by them except "Take On Me" which is probably one of the most memorable videos I have ever seen. I can watch it over and over.

They have sold 70 million records. They are not a one-hit wonder.

Same as most, thought they split up long ago. I loved 'Hunting high and low" I'll check some of their recent stuff on youtube.

                    sad news

                    Hey levyguy,

Wow! Surprised to see this thread. I guess I am always surprised to hear that someone else has stayed with them : )

I am a big a-ha fan as well and was saddened to hear the news. Though I guess I was totally surprised. It always seemed that the members, mostly Paul and Morten, weren’t terribly close. So I can see them wanting to move on to other things. Really love the new album, I think its solid from beginning to end.

Seeing that you are from NJ, were you at the show in NY about 5 years ago? I made the trip down. Supposedly they are doing a brief, two week tour of North America in May. I plan to see them as much as I can.

                    Chris

Morten Harket is reported to have a 5-octive vocal range and won a Guinness World record for longest single note held by a male singer in a song. On
a-ha's hit single "Summer Moved On" Morten holds a single note for 20.2 seconds on the word 'ask'. In many of their songs Morten displays incredible voice control, power and range, demonstrated too at their live concerts. I think he is the best male singer ever. And a-ha are the greatest band.
I was kidding with you man.

I also thought they never made it out of the 80's. The fist hit was good and so was the video. Never really heard of them again.

But not here in the States. Thus the reason I called them a one-hit wonder. That's the thing with music. You could have hundreds of hits in Europe,Australia,Japan, wherever, you only have the one-hit here and everyone pretty much forgets about you. Unless you show up on one of those VH-1 flashback shows.

Hi Chris! very glad to find another a-ha fan! I was shocked and very sad and a bit angry when I first read the news that they are splitting up. yes I agree with you 100% about Paul most likely being the reason. he has never liked Morten and he and Mags have not been friends for a really long time too. If you watch the interviews on youtube you can see its mostly Morten and Mags doing them, Paul did'nt bother to take part. And if you watch the video on youtube where a-ha won the Pioneer of pop award you can see Paul looks like he just wants to have no part of it. So yes, it seems Paul is the major reason for their decision to split up. Sadly, I did not get to go to their NYC concert in 2005. Im glad you got to go! I will have to see where they will be in May and if anything is close enough- maybe I can get my best buddy to go with me to see them. I'd love to see a-ha live.
The new album is great! One of my 3 favorite a-ha albums! its such a shame they get no promotion here. If The Bandstand and Riding The Crest were released here as CD singles along with the proper promotion a-ha would have hit singles here again!
In case you did not see it there is a recent interview with Morten and Mags on youtube. Enter: a-ha interview on UK MusicTV part 1 and part 2 in the search -it should come up! also the video for the single Shadowside is now on youtube! There is also a 25 minute EPK on a-ha the story of success on youtube!
