Oh, I can watch football here every day if I wanted and they show the Superbowl here too. I tried watching it one year and every time I thought I had figured out the rules something happened that didn't make sense to me, so I finally gave up"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

You are into football, basketball, golf, baseball and nascar and we're into soccer, Formula1, snooker and all 33 Olympic sports. But we don't have crap in sports? Uhu"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

It's funny how American football fans think soccer is boring...and on the flip side...soccer fans think American football is boring.
It's what you grew up and know.
I grew up watching and following both sports...I like them both equally.
Having said that...nothing...and I do mean nothing...beats the electricity of World Cup play...nothing...not even close.
But don't worry...the World Cup is only once every four years...I can watch my Super Bowls peacefully during World Cup hiatus.
I completely agree. I have been to both NFL games and US National Soccer games and others such as the AC Milan/Chelsea friendly in Baltimore.
The electricity at soccer games doesn't even compare to NFL games. It is constant chanting, drums beating, nobody sitting down, complete party atmosphere the entire time.
Also, you look at the U.S. game of 2-2 and that's the equivalent of a 14-14 football game. I do love football but so much time between plays...soccer palyers have to think on their feet since there are no breaks unless someone gets hurt.
Also, the ultimate score really isn't reflective of what happens during a match. True some games are boring but when you see games where shot after shot taking place...it could have been a 5 or 6 goal game. It's very difficult to score in soccer because aside from everything else; the goal keepers are incredible and very hard to score on.
I think once the U.S. can prove that they are a world class team which will happen in the next decade or so, soccer will increase in popularity as a spectator sport.
My kids love going to soccer matches because they play the sport and in fact, I think more kids play soccer than any other sport in the U.S.
Do the math and I think the owners getting in on the ground floor with the MLS teams will be greatly rewarded a few decades from now."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I am absolutely passionate about BOTH footballs. I am, unfortunately for me, a die-hard Cowboys fan. But there is an FC Barcelona banner on my office door.
I love going to both games and both have great tension and excitement. That said, there is nothing that compares to a World Cup match.
BTW, soccer is THE most-played game in America. I realize that its played mostly by young kids, but that's true for most sports. When was the last time you strapped on the pads and played football or vene played an organized game of basketball.
If I wore a soccer jersey 15 years ago here in the States, it was treated as a bit of a novelty. Now I see people wearing them all over the place and doing so in teams from all over the world. I even see people wearing them in the 765-person strong town my wife is from in northern Idaho.
I do think as the U.S. gets better, the sport will mean more to Americans.WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment

It's the other way around, just because YOUR country doesn't have it, doesn't mean it's worth ****. You've just given the best example yourself. You don't know snooker, but it's played all over the world"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment
