    The most unappreciated singer ever

    Jimi Jamison from Survivor

He was every bit as good as his peers at the time, better in some cases. He had the same level of pipes as Steve Perry but gets no respect within the music industry. They did have a few top 40 hits in 1985, but after that it's pretty much over. I think his career was affected by Eye of the Tiger even though he didn't record it. The general cheese factor has taken an undeserved toll on his reputation even to this day.

I was reminded of him when I came across an old set list from my band from 1995 that had a couple of Survivor tunes. I'd all but forgotten about his talent. Here's a funny commercial they did recently. I got a good laugh.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

The most unappreciated singer ever has got to be Frank Stallone

Like Survivor, Frank was effected by the Rocky curse

        THe Beret!

Actually that was Dave Bickman, the original singer. He was very good, but didn't have the emotive qualities Jimi did.

Frank Stallone! Holy crap I forgot about him. He did some cool stuff for soundtracks, but outside of that he was a bit flat. I'll have to go backa dn check his stuff out. Thanks for reminding me.

I think the problem with the guys mentioned on this thread is that they're all okay musicians, but they all hit during the early/mid 80's and at that time the dominant music was very up and triumphant. Themes that don't fly so much these days. So they come across NOW as overwrought and simplistic.

It's a problem a lot of metal bands have too; Manowar really doesn't strike a nerve with most folks who're content with the 9 to 5.

Nope. The most unappreciated singer is Tiny Tim. Go on myspace music and type in "tiny tim people are strange". It is very cool/bizarre.

                        I don't agree ...

                        Tiny Tim was never unappreciated

I've said it a bazillion times, so I'll say it again. The most unappreciated singer ever was, and continues to be, Colin Hay of Men at Work. One of the most distinctive voices of the 80s and he keeps cranking out quality solo music.

I agree. I saw Colin a few years ago here in NYC when he was doing his "Man At Work" one man show. We saw him on the local NBC station that morning and were at a theater in the Village watching him perform his show that evening. Great stuff! Really terrific.
