Picking back up on old collections

Just curious if anyone besides me has re-started collecting items where a collection already existed but stalled for some time.

For me, I just started recollecting Civil War Uniform Buttons.

I started a collection about 20 years ago but stopped. It was pre-Ebay days and the only way to really collect them was going to Antique shops or collector shows. Fortunately, I live in Maryland right in the heart of Civil War territory so they are pretty easy to find locally.

I like that they are small, easy to display, and just like Megos, there buttons can be purchased for as little as $1 all the way up to $10,000+ for one button depending on condition and rarity.

The Confederate buttons are rarer and more expensive. It's a fun hobby but you really need to know what you are doing. Many buttons that are pre-war and post-war look exactly the same so you have to look for other features (like certain back marks) or other features to the button to determine whether or not it is truly Civil War or not. The other buttons are collectible as well but don't carry quite the premium.

Anyone else re-starting an old hobby or collection?

Let me knw what you are looking for. There is an antique shop right near my house that has quite a few of these (do not know if over priced or not).

As for the topic, as everyone knows, I dropped my toy collection to start back on my LSU collection (much narrower range of stuff to find).

I used to collect Civil War items about 20 some years ago. This thread reminded me of a few buttons i still have.I dug them out, i doubt they are worth anything, two are in pretty bad shape, still interesting to look at again.I have many collections, but all it takes is one or two of something and i "think" i have a collection, have not wanted to rekindle any of them yet.Still going MEGO CRAZY!!!

Not to highjack a thread, but if anyone is interested, I have an "action figure" from the civil war. I found it in the attic of a nearly 200 year old house:

Ebay opened the doors for me on a lot of things like Crazy Foam and Collector Glasses that I had trouble finding around these parts.

nothing wrong with that. i think the dc pepsi glasses have the same charm as wgsh and in many cases used the same artwork.

When i started collecting Megos i had to stop buying animation and original comic art. so it's kind of opposite what you asked.

                    Hmmmm....

I keep trying to RESIST starting up old collections. So far I have NO Space Lego, my Playmobil set holds steady.... although I have picked up a few Macross and Dorvack model kits this year.

I was collecting Swords for awhile, but slowed due to my wife being a little freaked out with my son being born. I will Eventually pick this back up, whe he is older or I have a collectible room that I can lock up.

I'd love a few civil war buttons and a pair of matching navy colts with some confederate cash and cards to display in a shadow box!!!
Always wanted to build one.Put it up with my Jonah Hex collection.

For now I just keep switching back and forth from Mego to comics to board games.
My wife thinks there is something wrong with me...LOL

Just pick one thing already!!! She says...I don't know maybe she is right.
Instead of having lots of little collections just focus on one???

I've "restarted" my Amazing Spider-Man collection. I was originally 13-15 issues away from completing the original run when financial disaster struck. Needing an excuse I though "they just sit there" and start selling them off to raise money. I stopped selling at issue #58 realizing I'd want to go back to it eventually. So far I've gotten back over half of what I've sold and am having a blast doing it. This time I WILL finish the run!
So far my best grab has been picking up five issues (18, 24, 25, 49 & 55) for under $100 at a comic show as they had some slight water damage to the covers.
