A lot of people are reading this story as Dave having a few extramarital affairs and it's not really a big thing.
I can see that point of view ...
But the other side of the coin is Dave is the boss of the Late Show.
The way it's stated is he was having MULTIPLE affairs with a few different women -- who all are working for him.
I think that's the big deal.
In effect, these women could come out and say he made them do it or they'd get fired.
Probably not true -- but the perception of this will hang over Letterman forever.
If the boss is smart -- whether he's the President, a General, Bill Gates or even David Letterman -- he knows you can look, but don't touch "the help"
He never had to say a word. The guy is in jail. Something might have come up eventually, but it'd be coming from the man in jail for extorting Letterman, so what value would it hold. Letterman has had more than his share of creepy stalkers, this is just another dumbass trying to make a buck out of threatening the man.
Sure, anyone in power can try and coerce those below them, but does anyone think Dave needs to lie or manipulate to get laid?

All the evidence is now public record since it went to a Grand Jury.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
wasn't really a fan of Letterman but this has soured him even more, it's not funny to go on tv and disrespect his wife and child the way he did, first by having the affair and second joking about it.
Looking for Infinite Heroes Robin and Catwoman
And Super Powers Batman
His private life is his private life. He made no apologies. If this were something more than extortion it would have been out there by now.
I don't need anyone questioning the fact that I ride my motorcycle dangerously at times, drink more than I should and enjoy pharmaceuticals from time to time if I can still do my job.
Right now it's "everyone's business" and they are either gonna make a
judgement on Letterman's behavior...or not.
I don't think think you can fault any of the "judges"
for having what is really just an opinion....it's just a reflex.

Throw your dirt out and then you can talk with some weight.
I don't see the connection...but I see the point you're TRYING to make.
It is what it is.

This little scandal is giving Dave a nice boost in the ratings....as if he needed it....he's been mopping the floor with Conan since his version of the Tonight Show debuted anyway....
