I think back to the day when my parents bought our first VCR. They paid $800 for it (I think it was early 80's). Now VCR's are easy to find and cheap. Heck, you can purchase a half decent DVD player for $25 now.

our first vcr in 80 was 1200 and was like a giant cassette player (all analog big buttons) and the channel setting was 2 knobs one for VHF one for UHF. it was massive & it weighed a ton
in 84 we got a second it was a third the size and like yours about 800 with digital buttons a remote and "stero sound"

I paid $495.00 for my VCR back in the early 80's

It was a top loader made by General Electric

I do have to admit, it ran better then anything else electronic I ever owned.

I bought it in the early 80's and used it constantly until I got my first DVD player around 1999

That's about 15-18 years of faithful service ... (never ate a single tape)

It still ran like a champ when I threw it out around 1999 --- (wish I kept it)
