    It was a big event in my house too as a kid ....me and my sister would watch it every year.70 years old and still going strong......A few years ago the top movie songs in history were voted on..."some where over the rainbow" came in #1 of all time.My 5 year old niece can't get enough of "OZ"....every generation gets hooked
    As a foot note....when the world trade center got bombed the first time,the broadcast antenna got knocked out.....the only TV station that was still broadcasting was CBS(from the empire state building).....guess what aired that night...."the wizard of oz"

      I too remember when the annual showing of Oz was a family event. One year we went to a relatives house to watch it because we didn't have a color tv. What a spectacular!
