I love the show. its amazing the little odds and ends you can pick up watching the show.

I would love to see someone bring in a Mego and see what they offer them.

I love the grandfather in the show. I would say back in the day he would have been bad dude to cross.

The mark up in any normal store is %50 - %100. So what I see is the guy buys at a price he can make a normal markup on.
The people who try to sell at market value are wasting there and his time. I think they even noted in the show they don't come to a agree ment on 2/3rds of the people who come in.

Ever try trading in a CD or DVD to a record store? they only give you about 1/3 of the price they want to sell it at. (why do we call them record stores there is no records in them)

Man there's this Pawn shop in Miami that I use to go to to buy dvds and Cd's a few years back, the guy was the biggest dick ever. This poor guy walks in to pawn a guitar, the guy tells him $100 the guy was like man this is worth over $1000, so the guy says fine sell it to someone else for $1000...he says he really needs the money for his rent but he wants his guitar back in a week, the guy tells him $120 if he pawns it or $140 if he sells it(and tells him don't worry no one will buy this crap and you could come back and get it for almost the same price in a week) the poor guy bites and tells him to atleast hide for him so no one will get it in a week.

the guy says yeah man don't worry, as soon as the kid leaves the guy takes it and puts it in his trunk and starts bragging on how he will get $500 for it on ebay when he gets home... I called him a dick and never went back

This place looks like they carry high end stuff...not the normal garbage found in most stores and what better place than to set up in Vegas.

I have to imagine most of the people coming in there are pretty desperate and that's why he can get away with offering $.25 on the $1.00 for most things....he pays cash on the spot.

I do agree it is fun to watch ARS and watch tears come to someones eyes when they realize that a family heirloom that was given to them was worth 5 sometimes 6 figures. You can just tell that they need the money and it is a life changing sum for them.

It's fun to see the interesting stuff brought in, and you wonder how many people are doing it so they don't get their kneecaps broken..

The main guy is good, but he's also kind of annoying to me with how much he cracks himself up with his (non) witty retorts to people's asking prices..

The dull-witted morbidly obese sons are pretty useless.

    Something like that.

I've seen a few times when the store, at no expense to the seller, will bring in an expert who will value an item at say $4000. The potential seller will then say, "Well, I want $4000.". (It's a pawn shop...they want to make money so you ain't getting that from them if that's the true value because they need to make their money.)

Yeah, and I seem to remember Rick, although he pleaded dumb to comics, pointing out that comics, like sports cards, saw a period of over-inflation in the 90's.
