    So, did Wal-Mart cancel Halloween?

Okay, the thread is a bit mis-leading, but so far at our local Wal-Mart, the candy is out, there are tons of Halloween themed "costume" T-shirts, but no costumes, and no decorations?!? By this time most years, the store is full of this stuff. I'm wondering if they aren't going to go real bare-bones (pun intended) on Halloween this year. If so, it sucks, since they ran everyone else out of town around here.

I know Target has their costumes at one of the stores nearby. At least they did over 2 weeks ago.

Ours have been hit or miss. Som even put the stuff in the outdoor section where they put the Christmas stuff. May just be taking their sweet time.

        Down with Wally World

Now that Wal-Mart came out publicly saying they are going to put Toysrus out of business I just can't bring myself to buy anything else from them. I have set back and helped Wal-Mart force countless small and large business's out by giving them my families hard earned money. I am not going to watch them do it to the last great toy competitor on the market.

I will buy my kids stuff at toyrsus this year. It may cost a few more dollars, but the money is going to support a good cause--competition. Besides, buying items outside Wal-Mart helped me realize that meat from the local butcher is waaay better!

I wish I had the extra money to patronize places who sell items for a higher amount just on principle but unfortunatly I don't -- and the cheaper priced store wins everytime.

Sometimes I'd like nothing better than to never have to shop at Wal-Mart again, but unfortunately, its the only show in my hometown, and the nearest competitor is at least a half-an-hour away. So for day-to-day stuff, they win.

But I didn't want this to turn into another evil empire thread, just observing the lack of Halloween goods at Wally world this year. Maybe they are scaling back since they have to discount over half their costume inventory every Nov.1st?

              Sorry

Sorry folks. I didn't mean to get on my high horse and preach evil empire. It has just become a habit recently.

I went to our local Walmart yesterday, and their Halloween section was out in full force. I guess it depends on the individual store.

Okay then. No big Wal-Mart conspiracy then. Our Wal-Mart is notoriously lazy about stocking shelves anyhow. Usually Holiday resets have firm dates at these chains though.

Up here the Halloween stuff hit in a big way at Wal Mart a couple of weeks ago. I was in one yesterday though, and noticed they were already doubling up some of the Halloween stuff so they could clear space in one aisle for Christmas lights and outdoor decorations.....Its not even October yet!!!!

I honestly think most stores have started to show restraint with Christmas the last few years. I recall a few years ago, around the mid to late 90s when they had Chrismas decorations up in full force in AUGUST!!! Right as the back to school stuff went up, so did the Christmas. No Christmas stuff here yet.

There is a little bit of Christmas stuff out in the shops over here.

Halloween seem's to be getting a bigger event here too,as when i was a kid, people didn't hold parties like they do now or go round the streets really dressed up in costumes.

The supercenter Wallyworld near me has the largest Halloween section they've had in years or ever. I was shocked. Lots of licensed costumes too. From super heroes to Wizard of Oz.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
