The worlds only theoretically immortal animal

This is the Turritopsis Nutricula. Scientists have discovered the amazing fact that once this barely visible animal mates after becoming sexually mature, it reverts back to a younger state through a process called transdifferentiation. In layman's terms, the jellyfish matures, reproduces, and then grows younger in a process that scientists think can happen indefinitely meaning that the Turritopsis Nutricula is basically an immortal creature that never grows old and, barring disease or being eaten, may never die.

The latest breaking UK, US, world, business and sport news from The Times and The Sunday Times. Go beyond today's headlines with in-depth analysis and comment.

Sounds like we need to figure out the molecular biology behind transdifferentiation.
How long do you think it will be until rich old women start rubbing them on their faces as anti-aging skin cream?

Yes...I've read about that the T Nitricula...it's truly amazing.

I've also read of other living things that are also long lived...while none match the T Nitricula...some live like a couple of thousand years...some hundreds of years...truly amazing beings.

Well they will need to find what in the DNA causes this, than splice it into human DNA. Boy we would fill the planet up quick.
