Lets go back alot years to the NWA .It was the Rock and Roll Express VS the Midnight Express in the Scafold Match. Both teams were way high in the air on a scafold, loosers were the first ones thrown to the ring below. It was such a hit the did it aleast 3 times I believe.First was I think was at Starcade.80'S Wrestling at its finest.
I don't know about the best...but this was certainly the most infamous:
The Montreal Screwjob
The two men fought at Survivor Series '97. Bret was the champ and this was going to be his last match before leaving for WCW. Shortly before this match, Vince informed Bret Hart he would no longer honor their 20 year contract. He used the excuse that he could no longer afford him because they were losing the Monday Night Wars to WCW. Others have said that since the company was going public, Vince needed to get long term liabilities (ex: a 20 year contract) off his balance sheet. Bret had worked out a deal with Vince where he would not lose the title to Shawn Michaels that night. He offered to lose the belt to anyone else, but he refused to lose to Shawn in his home country of Canada. The match ended with Vince McMahon calling for the bell even though Bret was in the process of reversing the sharpshooter. After the match, Shawn ran to the back with the title. On TV Bret spit on Vince, broke the TV equipment, and wrote out WCW with his fingers to the audience. Backstage he gave Vince McMahon a black eye.
The Aftermath
Shawn would suffer an injury at a few months later that would keep him out of wrestling for 5 years. Bret's career would end in early 2000 due to a concussion he received from a kick from Goldberg. A year earlier, his brother Owen died in a tragic accident during a WWF PPV. Vince would use the Montreal Screwjob as a launching pad to become the hated Mr. McMahon character. His feud with Steve Austin turned the tide in the battle with WCW. He would go on to become a billionaire when the WWF went public and in 2001 he bought WCW from AOL-Time Warner.
What really happened in Montreal?
Through the years many things have come out about that night. In 1998, the movie Wrestling with Shadows was released. This movie featured a camera crew following Bret around during 1997. They had backstage access to some of the events. At the time, Shawn said he didn't know what was going to happen. In 2002, Shawn revealed he knew beforehand. In his 2005 autobiography, Shawn admits that the screwjob ending was Triple H's idea. In what should not be considered a coincidence, Shawn's autobiography came out a few weeks after Bret's DVD release. The working title of Bret Hart's DVD was Screwed: The Bret Hart story. The title and focus of the DVD changed when Bret decided to work with the WWE on the DVD set. Even though it has been over a decade since they last fought each other, the war of words between the two men still continues.
I love Bret Hart...have no feelings either way for Shawn Michaels...hate Triple H...and truly despise McMahon.
Hector i knew i liked you for a reason. Growing up in northwestern connecticut i had access to all the weekend WWF programs. So wrestling has been as big a part of my life as anything, i even had a job interview with WCW in 1993 i believe was the year, whenever fall brawl was at the asheville civic center in asheville NC believe it was fallbrawl 3 with vader and sting in a white castle of fear strap match. I had a blast with full access backstage and learned so much more about the backside of wrestling..
Now some of my favorites.
Stone cold vs bret hart wrestlemania 13 submission match where ole snowcone austin was left passed out in a pool of his own blood. did you guys know austin never beat bret one on one in a match.
Bret vs razor ramon royal rumble 1993, razor was hot and everyone thought he was going to upset bret and bret won once again.
Bret hart vs mr perfect, any time they stepped in the ring..rip curt
bret vs owen wrestlemania 10 rip owen
bret vs diesel survivor series another one where everyone thought it was over for bret.
Any hart foundation vs British bulldog match
Ill move away from bret
savage vs steamboat wrestlemania 3
Andre vs hogan wrestlemania 3 man i still remember the hype, when andre grabbed hogans cross and tore it off his neck.
Hogan vs warrior, again the hype the hype and then the hype, match wasn't as great but it was so 50-50 who was going to win.
randy savage vs flair several matches, they seem to hate each other, just great workers together.
hot rod roddy piper vs anyone from 82-87
king haku vs former king harley race harleys 1st match back
bret vs michaels any time bret wins, not the crybaby times michaels wins.
so many more. i remember seeing a show live at the old new haven coliseum and one match was lod vs the natural disasters. We had seats right next to where they were walking out but close to the ring and these guys were freaking massive. Undertaker was just starting out in wwf so he was the awesome deadman version and scared the crap out of me. I swore it really did get cold when he walked by.
That was lame...I'm just shocked Batista didn't injure himself...AGAIN.
I swear...he's the most powerful-looking...yet at the same time...the most fragile wrestler who ever lived.
I know,.. I Only wrote that because of you.
.. Naw,. I liked aspects of it,. Personally shocked myself to see him back so quickly.
I actually didn't know that Bret had an injury that knocked him out of Wrestling for Good. I was always under the impression He walked away,.. because of his Brothers death.

... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
Sorry man but the Greatest Wrestler of all Time isLou Thesz Time after time he makes many top ten all time list at number one. Virtually created many of the moves that are still used today.......
LOU THESZ (2)
Professional Success: Six-time NWA World’s Champion at a time when the belt meant something.
Importance to History: The glue that held the NWA together. No Thesz, no Flair, period. Wrestlers still use the “Lou Thesz press.” Hero and role model of Kurt Angle, his solid style will always outlast the performance art of the moment.
How Good in the Ring: On a scale of 1 to 10, he was a 12. I never saw a bad Thesz match, even against the likes of a Rocca.
Drawing Power: Good enough to keep the NWA financially viable. Bad gates didn’t doom the NWA, the US Government did.
Mainstream Status: Considerable in Japan. Accepted as the real thing in the US by the amateur wrestling community, no light accomplishment.
Phantom Comment: Amazing, isn’t it, that the editors could place Thesz behind anyone in the long history of pro wrestling. No one, and I repeat, no one, has done more to shape the history and direction of the game than Lou Thesz. Though he didn’t found the NWA, he gained his fame by reigning as its champion, being at the same time an ambassador for the sport and a role model in bringing in collegiate wrestlers. Without Thesz there is no NWA, and without the NWA there is no Flair, because being NWA champion got Flair out of the Mid-Atlantic ghetto and provided him with a worldwide presence. Without the NWA title, Flair would have ranked the same as Ray Stevens.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be...
Alright!!!
You guys do know I have been telling Damian about the awesomeness of the undeniable greatest wrestler of all times "Bret" for years now right?
I'm glad I've finally got some support!!!
Take that D you warrior lover you!!!...LOL
My favorite match of all time I think would have to be Bret Vs stone cold.
When Austin passed out from "Blood loss/pain" instead of tapping.
That match was excellent.I think the warrior would have probably tapped out though...LOL
I think it was Wrestle mainia 13?
One of the truly greatest last real shows before all the sledgehammers, tables and ladders crap that you get nowadays.Just two guys beating the crap out of each other maybe a ring bell or a chair but thats it.
