Do any East Coasters remember Customde Designs?

Still going through my mom's things, (she saved EVERYTHING!!) and I found a receipt for a custom wall unit we had. This thing was ENORMOUS! It was about 7 ft. wide by about 6.5 ft tall. It had included, TV, stereo turnatable and receiver, built in speakers, bar, artifical fireplace and storage cabinet. This was purchased for $1500 in 1970. Their address was: 1418 3rd Ave. NYC 10028.

Did any of your folks have custom wall units done by this company?

    (oops, title spelled wrong, CUSTOMODE)

*BUMP* This is me, around age 9, in front of said wall unit. Cabinet to the right is the stereo, cabinet to the left is storage, right behind me is the bar and fireplace, above me is the cabinet for the TV. Either side of me are the speakers. I wish I could have this again!

Wow $1500 in 1970 was a lot of loot.

Back then most of our furniture came from secondhand stores

Our idea of custom furniture was draping a sheet over a couch to make it match the walls
