Did Anyone Watch Vampire Diaries ????

Just curious because my wife says the Vampire Diaries was not too bad. Did anyone else view the premiere ? I am really interested in any and all things Vampire, but other than True Blood there has not been much Vampire like to be excited about. I Tivo'd it but I don't want to waste my time if it was terrible.

I watched it and I liked it. Plus it's a great pair-up for Supernatural now, which follows it.
I wanted to call it 90210 with fangs.
I have not seen the twilight movie so don't know if it's a ripoff of that or not. Plus it has Ian Somerhalder as a vampire (he was Boone in LOST).

It looks like Twilight-Lite, from the commercials. But my wife assures me the book series it's based on actually preceded the Twilight books.

I haven't seen it, but the guy playing the lead played Lex Luthor's long-lost brother on an episode of Smallville a few years back.

There are definite Twilight strong similarities; even the show's creators and actors admit as much. But supposedly the stories will become more distinctive as the show progresses.

I found the show very MEH.

shows like that are why i bought my wife her own 32 inch tv. seriously though she watched and i half watched, it wasn't terrible, a bit predictable but not bad.

If they would just not add the singing video's it would be a lot better.

Don't they realize singing videos might be hype now, but in a few years it's going to seriously date the show.

I don't think it's a ripoff so much as a parallel development sort of thing. Vampires have gone from monsters, to rakes, to whiney emos to the hot guy next door. This show just follows the trend.

I think if you like this sort of vampire story you'll like the show; but if you don't you won't since it's not really adding anything to the formula.
