A musician overshadowed

The Edge from U2 has to be one of the greatest musicians over the past 20 years but is overshadowed by Bono. I mean watch this performance from 1984. The guy plays keyboards, guitar, and sings backup. The man could lead his own band and be successful.

He is a very talented musician thats for sure.He can do it all thats for no joke,and if he where to do his own band sometimes it doesn't really go all to good.But maybe one day he will release his personal secret music that he wrote.

Speaking of whom, there is a documentary making the rounds in theatres now that is getting good reviews. It's called "It Might Get Loud" and is all about The Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White. It looks pretty good, I want to see it. Trailer here:

Just because someone has musical "talent" in the technical sense doesn't
mean he can lead a successful band. If that was the case, the pop charts,
or lists of legendary rock bands or etc. etc. would be filled with bands
led by prog rock progenies or whatever----Bono sells U2 pure and simple.
I mean, the U2 band chemistry is key, yeah, but I'm pointing out
that THE EDGE is no Richards or Townsend or even (Joe) Perry
for that matter. The charisma just doesn't really register as much
on this guy who's most interesting quality is his nickname.

I think was he was OK with it when he had a huge line of people paying $60 a pop for autographed photos at a convention I went to a couple of years back. Of course you're still right. Everyone would rather be the lead guy if they could.
