Remaking schlocky b movies into straight movies ain't new, Larry Buchanon did it in the 60s and produced mesmerizing results. I'm curious to see this updating just too see how the director handles the challenge.

This comment kinda hilights my qunundrum with this sort of thing. "Fame" actually gets remade every few years, but under a new title. Hell; even "Fame" was essentially a remake. But that's 'cos it's theme is so basic, and universal.
So the question is: is it more reprehensible to make a film that's essentially the same as another film under a new name, or is it worst to just remake an old film?
If you take the schlock out of "Plan 9" is it STILL Plan 9, or is it just another zombie film?
I just don't think the makers of this new movie just don't get it. Wood was a Hack and couldn't make movies to save his life. The movies he made were so bad that you just didn't take it serious and just laugh at them.....Plan 9 is hilarious to watch with film fans.
Plus Tor and Vampira are in it....can't beat that Cheese!
All I see with this new movie is just another Zombie movie cashing in on the name.
what makes movies like plan 9 cult classics is that they are SOOO bad you can't help watching them. In the 50's b movies were pretty common but now we call them direct to dvd releases
for plan 9 the basic plot is pretty bad to begin with so all the effects in the world won't improve that (look at Deep Blue Sea the shark may look more realistic than Bruce in Jaws but it is a horrid film). and conversely it isn't always the case that new effects will enhance a film (look at the Lost in Space movie)

^^^ That's the guy that redid Invasion of the Saucer Men and It Conquered the World, right?
