>I know what everybody is thinking: that this move is in response to the announcement August 31st that Disney is buying Marvel.
Gee.... how'd you guess?
>You can think that, but you would be wrong. This change has been in the works quietly for two years ever since Robinov moved into the top slot.
I dunno. How long was the Disney/Marvel thing in the works?
It's always amazed me, the parrallel development between Marvel and DC; how anything that one did the other HAD to do. Not that it always seemed like ripoffs; a lot of it seems to be a weirs synchopation thing. Like this.
>"It was Jeff's idea to have DC Comics reporting to him, and DC will be his direct responsibility with Diane Nelson,"
Yeah, another level of exec oversight should help things....
I think Warners has been working behind the scenes to get DC movies cranking out faster. Hence the hiring of Geoff Johns, Marv Wolfman and Grant Morrison to spearhead script development on their franchises. I do think it's a direct response to the success Marvel has had with their multiple movies, and of course, the insane money that The Dark Knight made. It made Warners realize they had been more or less sitting on a goldmine for the past 40 years, only exploiting the big two over and over.
I don't think ANYONE knew of the Disney deal. If they had, it would have at least been whispered on line.
Everyone Remember Superman 3 & Batman and Robin ,.. right ?
These Guys Passed on the Commando Penguins ??? & a Superboy that Kills .. & Luthor in every Flipp'in Superman Movie but 1....
Catwoman ??? ..
Here is a Company Who Has had Axcess to whole World of DC Comics to Make Movies from for Many,.. Many Yrs... & They Have Only given Us a Couple that are Even Worth a Damn.
So I am to believe they are able to create an Awesome Universe,.. When they can't even make a decent 2 hr Movie on a Regular Basis ? .. Alrighty then.
All those other mistakes were in the past. I believe that with the success of Batman Begins & The Dark Knight...that they have learned the right formula. Give the right creative team control, without to much big executive interference...and they will produce a good Movie.
