      Good answer! I should have thought of that. A nice big heavy gold brick over the head vs. a tiny little paper cut makes a BIG difference. Maybe that explains it then.

              Everyone is hawking gold these days which usually means it's hitting its peak.

              It isn't bad to have some hard currency (gold and silver) just to be safe. Silver is a fairly easy investment because many U.S. coins prior to 1964 have silver content in them.

              There is a website Current Melt Value Of Coins - How Much Is Your Coin Worth? which will tell you the melt value of say a Morgan Silver Dollar at current spot prices. Many times, you can walk into a local Antique store and purchase common silver dollars for less than current spot rates.
