My brother has informed me that I'm gonna have to rent out my mom's room. He hates to do it, but after she's gone, he still needs to pay for the insurance and so forth on this house. It'll seem weird w/o my mom here, and even weirder that someone will be living in her room!

But it has to be done. So if any Bay Area folk are or will be looking for a place to live in the next few months, please PM me. I'd rather rent to someone I kinda know who shares some of my interests.

That sucks, we had to do the same when my Grandmother passed

They rented it to some stupid people and they moved out after a few months and then my mom moved in it, maybe you'll feel better if you take her room and rent yours

Actually, there are several reasons why I don't want my mom's room:

1)It would just be too weird.
2) It's directly over the garage. We rent out the basement to another woman w/ a car and my brother's car is in there too.
3) When we moved into this house, I had my room painted a purple/blue color and did a space theme in here. It's arranged just the way I want it and I'm happy back here.

Besides, my mom's room is bigger (master bed and bath) and we could get more money for it.

I'm sorry those people didn't show your gramma's house the respect it deserved, Damien. That's what I hope to avoid by renting to (hopefully) someone I know.

If you don't want strangers living in the house, perhaps consider renting out the room as storage space (not living space).
Check what the local storage places are charging and rent it a bit lower - to entice a renter.

Make a deal with the renter they can come anyime between (list your home hours) ... This way they don't even get a key to your house.

Just a thought that may need some tweeking.

That's a thought, but we wouldn't get the money we needed for a storage space.

I just looked on the net .. A storage place in Ca. is charging $168.00 per month for an 8 x 15 room.
