I Hate This!!!!

So they deliver the morning mail at work and a few AJ’s I won off on eBay arrive….cool stuff right!

Until I open the box and get hit with the vial aroma of cigarettes!!!
Good new is my AJ’s are now on the patch.

The smell is much better if the item is boxed or has lots of cloth goods.
mmmmmmmmm Nothing like the smell of stale smoke and the thought of someone else's breath in a box.

I have come to terms with collector/seller smokers. Can't seem to avoid them. Here is my solution.

When I was a kid, we used to visit my Great Aunt Cecilia and Anna. Many of my fond toy memories are actually tied in with them as they lived in the centurian family house where the xmas reunions took place for my first ten years. They also smoked, tho only after dark and typically when we were all playing cards. Thus their house, although not permeated with the smell of a chain smoker, had a certain tobacco air to it. Whenever I get the whiff out of a box I've just opened, I let my mind go back to that house and remember the good things associated with that smell. Then it doesn't bother me that much.

I snagged the rare tan cage version for the LJN wwf bendies wrestling ring a while back. Damn thing reeked of cigarette stench. I was hitting that thing with water, colorox wipes etc. The cleaning worked to a small degree, but in the end the smell just went away on its own after time

I got a GI Joe that was smoke-a-licious a couple of years ago. Bounce sheet in a plastic tub worked wonders. I had to wash the clothes though.

How about when you buy something and it has pet hair/ dander all over it. Gross!

I got something recently that knocked me off my feet. People need to realize that if they smoke it gets on everything in their house./apartment.

The bounce sheet works wonders though. I got a couple of old buck rogers books that I thought would always have a smell and 2 weeks later I couldn't smell any smoke smell at all.

The other option is that you can take up smoking yourself and then you don't notice it, too.

Yeah that's disgusting. I got a package like that once. It smelled so strong I couldn't stand it.
After soaking and washing the clothes in some laundry detergent (especially one with odor neutralizers) the smell went away.
