    Jess,

I'm surprised to see so much English signs there.

Do a lot of people there speak English ? -- or is most English signs just for tourists ?

      thanks for the pics.

      Looks like an awesome trip.

As a person who has taken megos on photo trips in the USA, I can imagine the funny looks you got from other folks when trying to shoot your pals at the beach. Good stuff.

Kenya was an English colony. That's why they drive on the wrong side of the road.

Mostly everyone speaks English (which is why my Swahili sucks)--unless you go out to the rural areas.

Have to share this funny with someone. Of course it was all in Swahili and I had no clue what was going on.

We had just landed, maybe in Nairobi, and we were just standing around while the customs officer looked through our passports. He was looking at the children and wanted to know their ages. My husband obliged and told him. Then he said, pointing to me, what about that child? How old is she?

My husband said, that's not my child, that's my wife, and THIS is how old she is, showing him my passport.

                My hairstyle doesn't help, either.

Great Pictures! Looks like it was a fantastic trip. Did you have an advantage knowing people there or would you recommend it as a place for anyone to visit?
                  It's all good!

Kenya is a beautiful country with very friendly people. It's just expensive.

One word of caution...don't take pictures of the locals without asking first because it's considered rude. That was my faux pas on my first visit there in 1989--I love candid shots and I got yelled at.

I visit because my husband's family is from there. It's highly recommended as a place to visit. Take a safari, go see the country--definitely. Take the balloon safaris--that's something I would like to do in my lifetime. Maybe next time I visit.
