    James Cameron's "Avatar"

    Trailer:

    Apple - Trailers - James Cameron's Avatar

A lot of people at the AV Club are saying this will be terrible. I think this looks like it could be good. (It's going to be in a new kind of 3D.) I mean this is the guy that brought us Aliens and T2.

It looks INCREDIBLE to Me!! The only Critics I care to read, are the GEEK reviews. That's why I go to "Ain't It Cool News" first.

the short review i gave my friend about the trailer was that the cgi looks terrible and horribly cartoon-ish. It was more like watching the cut scenes to a video game or some really bad flick on the sci-fi channel.

The actual film overall does seem to have a lot of potential, but Cameron really needs to improve those special effects to make this fly

It looked good until you see those blue humanoids. The CGI does looks bad in their movement as well. Some scenes look really good, though. The whole bright color fantasy creature element is what ruins it for me.

I saw the trailer yesterday and gave last nights 16 minute preview tickets to someone else hope they got it?.anyways I am scared for James Cameron at this point the trailer looks goofy like one big video game if this is an indication of what he can come up with after a 14 year hiatus he needs to retire.

the Tron Legacy early cgi presentation looks ten times better!

              >the trailer looks goofy like one big video game

That was my problem with it too; not the goofy part, but that it looks like durned near every "space marine" video game that's come out in the last 8 years. I'm okay with the goofy part; it's the "looks like everything else" part that bugs me.

I'm sort-a so-so on Cameron, but I have to admit the 10+ years wait to direct this film had me very curious. The original teaser trailer - the abstract one with lots of stock footage - had me even more curious. Now that I've seen a bit of what it is I couldn't be less interested.

Same thing with Cloverfield basically - once I found out it was a Godzilla/Cthulhu creature I didn't even bother seeing it.
