    Inglorious Basterds

Just saw it. They ummm took a few liberties with historical accuracy didn't they?

Definitely a movie for film history buffs given the background of German cinema this is set in.

As much as I love David Bowie's music for the Nastasia Kinski Cat People remake, you have to kind of wonder if it belongs here.

I'm a huge Tarantino fan, so I'm definitely seeing this regardless of reviews.

              Review here are very positive.
              "QT back in top form"
              "He's back!"

Yeah, it's inaccurate historically, but so are many other "historical" movies, right?
              I want to see it!

It could only be described as "historical fantasy" but I sure as hell liked it. So much cinema is jaded and predictable these days, QT manages to avoid both so he gets my vote :-) First rate acting all round, including Brad Pitt.

                Cheers,

I never heard of this movie until this thread.

                  Looks very watchable ...

I just might have to break down and see it

definately looks cool......anything with Nazi's getting slaughtered sounds good to me.....I am sure as is typical of Tarantino, there will be lots of blood and over the top violence

He was on Howard Stern promoting the movie last week and mentioned how Pitt cut him off a big piece of hash one day when they were partying...... It caused a bit of a buzz, not one of his best pr moves!

Brad Pitt is definitely enjoying himself in this role. Looks like he's having as much fun playing this scalp-hunting soldier as he did in Burn After Reading. It's good to see Pitt pursuing more of a "Johnny Depp" type career of portraying characters with a bit of eccentricity to them.

Don't expect Downfall or The Bunker is all I'm saying!

Heck, if you've seen the original, park your expectations at the door. This one seems to be a remake in name only for the most part. It's undoubtably a Tarantino film. He even gets in his obsessive meandering pop culture dialogue... only it's set around the European cinema of the 1940's.

I saw it last night, and I must say, I enjoyed it. Now I'm normally not into war movies and I am not a Brad Pitt fan, nor have I seen any of his flicks until now.

BUT I will say this. In a sense, it's a foreign film since most of the dialogue is spoken in French and German with English subtitles. However, the subtitles disappear when English is spoken.

It is violent as hell with lots of shootings, blood, and head scalpings. And I will say there are indeed certain historical inaccuracies, especially as far as Hitler was cocerned. But Brad Pitt makes it well worth the watch. He is primarily the only thing comical in this otherwise war movie. His character is from Maynardville Tennessee and the way he looks and acts in this movie, he reminds me of a young Gerald McRaney in this movie.

But that's all I'm going to reveal since I don't wish to spoil it.

                          Cheers.
