Mothers Ultimate Car Wax System: AMAZING! Pix included

    Hello, Everyone.

Just thought I'd share the following with anyone interested.

I am the original owner of a 1988 Nissan Pulsar NX SE and it's silver. I am meticulous with it, but over the last 19 years, the paint (on the T-tops, rear hatch deck, and especially on the hood) has become faded and dull and mottled looking. I'm not sure if this is a particular problem with metallic paints; I've never had metallic paint before this car and I've never owned a car as long as 19 years before.

I'd been toying with the idea of getting the entire car repainted (and I still might, at some point), but I'd like to keep the car as original as possible.

I did a bit of "homework" and came across the Mothers Ultimate Wax System. It's a 3 step process, but if your paint finish is really poor, they recommend a clay bar treatment first. So...that's what I did. During this past week that I had off from work, I did one step per day (I did it by hand; no orbital buffer was used)

    1. Mothers clay bar treatment
    2. Step 1 of the Ultimate Wax System: prewax cleaner
    3. Step 2 of the Ultimate Wax System: sealer and glaze
    4. Step 3 of the Ultimate Wax System: carnuba liquid wax (you can also opt for paste)

Well...the hard work paid off. The results are just incredible.

    1. and 2. My car's hood before any of the above steps were done. As you can see, the hood is pretty bad:

    3. and 4. Here is the hood after the treatments:

    5. and 6. Here are a couple of "full shots" of the car. I normally have a nose mask on the front, but I was cleaning it and hadn't put it back on yet when I snapped this photo.

If these products can do this to 19 year old paint on a car driven every day, then I'm sure it would make a car several years old look like it just came from the showroom. I highly recommend the System to anyone who wants to "spiff up his/her wheels"! I ordered everything from the Mothers Online Store.

Disclaimer: No...I am in no way affiliated with Mothers!

        ^ Thanks, guys.

I wish I'd stumbled upon to this stuff years ago! I've always been really skeptical of "promises" made on car products, but this stuff really delivers.

that Nissan's pretty cool,I haven't seen one in Miami in years
Thanks, T2C. I'm in CT and I never see any Pulsars except mine. LOL!!!! I admit to being abnormally attached to it.

great stuff your car look new
Thanks, CL. I wish I'd gotten the nose mask immediately when I bought the car new. I got it several years later, after doing a lot of highway driving and there are lots of nicks from rocks hitting the chin spoiler, front painted bumper (there's nothing like a good ol' fashioned RUBBER BUMPER! They were indestructible!) and a bit on the hood. I touched them up but they're still noticeable. At this point, though, I'm not sure I could have just one part of the car painted and have a body shop person match the paint color on the rest of the car. Hmm...not sure.

        Thanks for the feedback!

They're six highly trained Death Slugs doing the hypnotic "dance of distraction" that they use to immobilize their victims before attacking in a whirlwind frenzy of flesh-drilling. The red one is my favourite. I call him Walter.

                    batmanmc,

Yes. They tell you on the website how often to use the "preliminary" cleaning steps depending upon the condition of the paint. For example, if your paint is pretty good as-is, I think you could just buy the wax itself. If it's feeling gritty, then the prewax cleaner and sealer/glaze might be in order first, etc. You can gauge it accordingly, I think.

My paint was, I think, a "worst case scenario", so I didn't mess around and did everything possible.

I have to say, the clay bar is so cool! You can actually hear the grit being taken up from the paint by the clay bar!

Wow, that's amazing! This is saying a lot for our vehicles here in New England, they use lots of road salt to melt the road ice in the winter, and this does a toll on the paint and underneath the car. K, you kept this car rot free too, it looks great!
