Now you're nitpicking---they are simillar bands in theory---whether you agree if they are as GOOD as KISS is a whole other matter.

I never said I "expected" them to aspire to the levels of Pink Floyd. I simply said that Kiss hadn't...musically. Do you see the difference there? I wasn't putting Kiss down so I'm not sure why you are getting defensive. I said Kiss have a formula and they stick to it. And where other bands have progressed they have essentially remained the same. There's nothing pretentious there. I'm sorry you don't get that Hue.
      I'm sounding "defensive" because I think it's dangerously counter-productive
for a straight out rock band to have the aspirations to "evolve"
like Beatles' SGT. PEPPERS or later FLOYD did.

So, yeah, I saw "the differece". It's (usually) QUITE pretentious for a simple
rock band like KISS or ZZ TOP to desire to break new ground.

Please don't take it like I'm angry---it's just something I'm passionate about.

The new track does indeed sound like it's from the Lick It Up/Animalize era. That's not a terrible thing, per se. It does feel though like Paul's songwriting got a bit stuck around that time and just didn't evolve much from there. While "Carnival Of Souls" might've been a flop of sorts, and I know alot of KISS fans are divided on it, I think that was probably their most creative and inspired album since 1982's "Creatures Of The Night". I agree with Grayhank a little bit when it comes to KISS thinking outside the box musically, I think it does in fact make for a more interesting listen. But unfortunately it doesn't translate into good sales, as most of us will always be hankering for the next "Rock And Roll Over"....

The only thing I can say is, I've talked with a couple of people who've heard the new album in it's entirety and they said that there's much better songs to be found than "Modern Day Delilah" on there.

I'll add this though- speaking for myself, I already like this new track more than almost anything on "Psycho Circus". I found that cd to be extremely bland and forced.

What I'm hankering for is something that rocks in a most
familliar way--- and something that I actually "like" as well.

          Of course I realize that's ^^^ a vague statement---

but going into details is something you guys have seen me do already---
plus if you go to that KISS myspace site I keep promoting you'll hear more
details on my thoughts and expectations on SONIC BOOM than you could
          shake a tongue at.

I agree with nvmbrs that PC was horribly forced sounding
and just about anything'll be better than what was on PC.

I received the email from KISS about the release of Sonic Boom and Modern Day Delilah on the site to listen to. My first reaction was W-T-F? This is the first song your going to release to the public to promote the album? Even the title is terrible. I truly hope it gets better than that song as lackluster is an understatement. When Stanley bragged how it only took a few months to throw that album together while Ace took 15-20 to put his together, it shows. From the small amount of Outer Space I heard coming from Ace's Anomaly album, I'm pretty sure the music will blow Sonic Boom in the dust.
