views of stores in 1970's movies and shows

I go nuts when I see a scene in a grocery store or another store from 70's movies and shows, especially if it's a real location and not a set.

Like I recently saw Oh God! and I was grooving on the scenes filmed in what looks like a real grocery store.

I love looking at all the old food packaging and layout.

Love the parade scene in Slapshot that drives by the Glosser Bros. dept. store in Johnstown PA., sadly long gone now. Used to go there occasionally.

And the whole driving through the mall scene in Blues Brothers!

"Jacob two two meets the hooded fang" is painful to watch but it has a fight scene in a 1970's montreal mall toy store.

The Blues Brothers mall was an out of business mall that they dressed up with stores for the scene. They did a great job of making the stores look real and not stagy.

One of my favs is "The Toy" with Richard Pryor. It has an awsome shot of a Mego toy display in the part when he is the janitor of a large mall and is first seen by young Master Bates. If you have yet to see this movie you really should check it out.

              LOL! Me too.
I keep saying things like, "I remember that old Penney's logo" or "I wonder if that chain is still in business" or "Yeah, remember when Penney's sold stuff like tv's, tools and furniture?".

Streets Of San Fransisco airs here in Oakland, and I do like seeing billboards of old products, or stores of food w/ the old labels.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Too many toys. Not enough space!
