    RIP Les Paul

Guitar legend Les Paul has died at 94
Inventor changed course of music with electric guitar, multitrack recording

NEW YORK - Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock ’n’ roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the “tracks” in the finished recording.

He was truely an 'under-sung' music legend.

Born/raised in my backyard here in Milwaukee, WI.

Sleep well and Thanks, Mr. Paul.

That is really sad. Truly a legend is lost.

I had my eyes on a Gibson Les Paul Sunburst for years as well.., but ended up buying the Epiphone equivalent on my last deployment.

It was $350 vs $3,500.. I could tuck away a few hundred from the Mrs, but not three grand.

It plays well enough for me.
